Customer Loyalty, How to Gain an Edge on Your Competition

customer loyaltyYou know there’s lots of competition vying for the attention of the same customer you are reaching out to.  So what’s the hope of  gaining attention and even giving your competitors a run for your Ideal Customer’s loyalty?
Consider this statement from The Harvard Business Review which said that the average business loses 50% of their customers every five years.

What are the Stats on Customer Loyalty

Here are the reasons customers leave, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce:

  • 68% leave because they are upset with the treatment they’ve received (Customer Service)
  • 14% are dissatisfied with the product or service
  • 9% begin doing business with the competition
  • 5% seek alternatives or develop other business relationships
  • 3% move away
So the fact is a lot of your competition will drop off leaving you lots of room to stake your position and share of the market targeting for example soccer players. (Link to soccer article) or your Ideal Customer.

How to Keep Your Customers Loyal

Be consistent with your posting, create videos, engage in social media…watch your content rise to the top of the search engine for your keywords. 
Be customer focused at all times. Providing stellar value and customer service to earn the customer loyalty your competitor lost.
Attraction Marketing at its best is keeping your customer central to everything you do online. Do not pitch your product or MLM to them in your blog.
Teaching sells. When you are giving your Ideal Customer good value in your content, they will come back to your blog. They will accept your free offer in exchange for giving you their name and email; open your emails more.

Earning Loyalty of Customers = Income

Now you have a growing list of your niche Ideal Customers ready to receive emails from you . This is your opportunity to develop a strong relationship of trust. As you deliver interesting relevant short emails, your list begins to watch for your stuff because they like you! This is termed as email marketing. Email marketing may feel like a small piece of the puzzle, but it is the life blood of your business.  You are building loyalty and subsequently putting offers in front of your list that generates income for you from these pieces of “content marketing”
You use a consistent, timely flow of emails to enhance a loyal following.  It is a good idea to make clear early in the sequence what your intent is with regards to offering good information.  You will meet the needs of your Ideal Customer by giving them opportunity to buy products or services from you .  
Make yourself known to your list by introducing yourself to them via an early email.   Disclose appropriately details about your life, your family your personal interests.  Link to a page on your blog that tells your story.   
You will find that with following these guidelines that your online business will gain an edge on your competition.  It takes work, but so does everything worth doing! You are building a business that you alone control!
